Bat Flip Insane - 2D Game Art & Animation

Help the little teenage bat Archie find a way out of the cave so he can get to his beloved rock concert. But, as is often the case with teenagers, his hormones are going crazy and his body has decided to do its own thing. One moment he’s flying to the right, the next he’s fluttering to the left - and wait, what’s this… a sudden burst of hair growth?!

This game is part of the 16th Inno Game Jam and was created within 48 hours. The theme was “Flip The Rules.”
You can play it here: https://jilabelle.itch.io/bat-flip-insane

The game is a one-button game. Depending on the level, you use this button to flip the current rule - flight direction, gravity, or the bat’s material. In later levels, you even have to flip several rules at once. You must not hit the walls and reach the yellow tiles to get free.

My role was to design and animate the bat which I decided to do frame by frame. I had to create several variants for the different materials. I also designed the UI elements showing which rule is currently active, created the tiles for the cave walls and painted the background.
